One continuous belt-like band of 3/8” blackened steel plate supports a segment of an old timber beam that has been burned in the Japanese method of “Shou-Sugi-Ban”. This bench is a celebration of contrasts. It is both rectilinear and curved, segmented and continuous, smooth and rough.
